When I live my dream, I’ll take you with me
Riding on a golden horse
We’ll live within my castle, with people there to serve you
Happy at the sound of your voice
Baby, I’ll slay a dragon for you
Or banish wicked giants from the land
But you will find, that nothing in my dream can hurt you
We will only love each other as forever
When I live my dream
When I live my dream, I’ll forgive the things you’ve told me
And the empty man you left behind
It’s a broken heart that dreams, it’s a broken heart you left me
Only love can live in my dream
I’ll wish, and the thunder clouds will vanish
Wish, and the storm will fade away
Wish again, and you will stand before me while the sky will paint an overture
And trees will play the rhythm of my dream
When I live my dream, please be there to meet me
Let me be the one to understand
When I live my dream, I’ll forget the hurt you gave
Then we can live in our new land
Till the day my dream cascades around me
I’m content to let you pass me by
Till that day, you’ll run to many other men
But let them know it’s just for now
Tell them that I’ve got a dream
And tell them you’re the starring role
Tell them I’m a dreaming kind of guy
And I’m going to make my dream
Tell them I will live my dream
Tell them they can laugh at me
But don’t forget your date with me
When I live my dream

Understanding and WISDOM comes from God alone. We do not gain UNDERSTANDING of the Scriptures, the Bible, through our own studies or through the explanations of other people. It is only when the Holy Spirit reveals the true meaning to us that we really start understanding the Scriptures.
The disciples of Jesus followed Him for three and a half years and listened to Him, they heard His words, they saw everything that He did but they still did not understand the scriptures. They were frightened when Jesus appeared to them after His death and resurrection, they thought He was a ghost. They were amazed and frightened when they heard that some of them had seen Jesus alive after His death and resurrection. We read in Luke 24:36 “While they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be to you.” 37But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit. 38And He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39“See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41While they still could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish; 43and He took it and ate it before them.
44Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45THEN HE OPENED THEIR MINDS TO UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES, 46and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48“You are witnesses of these things. 49“And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:36-49.
He opened their minds to understand the scriptures. Only then did they UNDERSTAND and then He commanded them to stay in Jerusalem until they had received the Holy Spirit which He had promised, Who would teach them and guide them into all truth. We cannot understand the Scriptures from our own mind, our own understanding and insight or from what other people tell us. We cannot understand the mysteries of God, neither SEE the Kingdom of God unless it is REVEALED to us by the Holy Spirit, but we need to RECEIVE the Holy Spirit, we need to receive WISDOM FROM GOD. Human wisdom cannot explain the mysteries of God. We need the baptism in the Holy Spirit and we need to be led by the Holy Spirit and then we will UNDERSTAND the Scriptures.
If you want UNDERSTANDING you have to ask Jesus to open your mind and give you WISDOM, then you will UNDERSTAND the Scriptures.
May Jesus bless you.
I had promised to write a song, on request, so I did!

What do you see when it’s dark, It’s Dark, Cold, Raining, You are sad Dreaming, hoping, for a better future But now, know how, I feel lonely In the dark, don’t know if it was real, or not Standing on a bridge Looking down, see the water, clime to the railing, Standing there, ready to jump… From my right-side a soft tender voice whispered: (Music change) He brother, come to me, Don’t go there, it’s cold and wet If you jump everything will be gone, others will cry For what?, For what? (Music change) Wake up my brother, it’s time to help me Wake up, it’s time to wake up (music change) For breakfast, I prayed; Thank you Jesus, without you I was gone Please help me, thanks (Music goes slow and soft, on the end🙂 Amen
Now a Dutch song (from a long time ago, I wrote it when I was 7 years young) Als ik alleen ben, bent U dan bij me Jesus u weet van Verdriet en pijn Help me te leven, zoals het ‘t bedoelde Mag ik Uw eigen vrientje zijn
Exodus 26:30 (Inside Out)
Relate: Fine linen, goat hair, ram skin, goat skin, frame, support, gilding. This is the order of what God speaks about to Moses regarding how to build the tabernacle. It is pretty much the opposite order I would notice it. First thing I would see would be the outer curtain and all the gold. Then I would notice its structure and finally, only after I have entered in, would I notice the thing that God began with.
We tend to work backwards, starting with the outside and working our way in. First change your appearance, then lets deal with your behavior. Now that we’ve got those squared away lets start working on cleaning out that mind. OK, now that you look good, act good, and think right, now we’ll start digging into the heart. God, in building the Tabernacle started with the inside then worked out. God, when building us does the very same thing.
React: It is easy to change my appearance. I already did it at least once today. Showered, shaved, changed and I’m a new man. Give me 20 minutes on Halloween and I can be anything you want. It takes a bit more work to try and change my behavior. I really have to work at it, but it can be done. With effort and self discipline, over time I can start acting like a fine upstanding citizen. (Question though, what’s the fun in that?) Almost impossible is trying to get me to change my mind. Over long periods of time it does happen. Through a single argument, debate, or piece of information… not a chance. The thing that is impossible, though, is changing my heart. Only God can do that. It is a good thing that is exactly what He does and that is how He works.
God, I give You my heart. Do with it as You will. Change and mold me as You know best. I want to be a tabernacle for Your dwelling. So often I look at myself and at others from the wrong direction. Help me to see how You see and respond the way You responded. Don’t let me get caught up with behavior and appearance issues, let me guard and shelter my heart and the hearts of those You have placed in my life.

All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of God.
This second day of the New Year, I find myself amazed by faith and hope. I’ve encountered these virtues in people whom many view as having little reason for either. A friend who continues cancer treatment celebrated Christmas with joy and welcomes 2015 with the certainty that blessings lie ahead. A friend whose mother’s terminal illness will end soon places this dear parent in God’s hands. In the mean time, she remains present and accepts that this is enough. Young parents whose first pregnancies ended with pre-birth detours to heaven await another child. In spite of the pain of these losses, they open their hearts to their daughter who will make her appearance in a few weeks.
These are three of the numerous stories of faith and hope which unfold around you and me today. So many suffer the worst this life has to offer. Yet, in spite of each ones personal variety of devastation, they endure and emerge with grace. God’s salvation does extend to all the ends of the earth. It is up to us to open our eyes to see it, our arms to embrace it and our hearts to share it.
Loving God, wherever I find myself today, help me to move beyond my own trials with faith and hope in better things to come.

Then one of the Temple guards standing nearby slapped Jesus across the face. “Is that the way to answer the high priest?” he demanded.Jesus replied, “If I said anything wrong, you must prove it. But if I’m speaking the truth, why are you beating me?”
Then Annas bound Jesus and sent him to Caiaphas, the high priest. (John 18:22-24)
Read: 1 Corinthians 4:1 – 7:40
Relate: In Matthew 5:39, Jesus commands, “If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also.” But here in his own trial, it appears that He doesn’t follow His own maxim. Annas asks Him what He has been teaching. Jesus responded that He’s been teaching the same thing, publically, all along. Ask anybody.” At this the guard slaps Him for being disrespectful to the high priest (who isn’t really the high priest). Jesus’ response: “If I said something wrong, prove it. If not, why the attack?” Jesus did not turn the other cheek but rather spoke out against the injustice, the illegality of what the guard just did.
React: There are three valid responses to this which all show that there is no contradiction between what Jesus is saying and what He does. The first of these is that in Matthew 5 Jesus is talking about personal, man to man, relations. Even though lawsuits and court are mentioned, His focus is on a person’s relationship with another person. If someone wants to take you to court, settle the matter before you get there. (Matthew 5:25) If they do sue you and demand the shirt off your back, give them your coat as well. (Matthew 5:40) These are person to person responses, not directives for what to do when at a trial. Matthew 5 does not over Jesus, or any of us, exercising our legal rights when we do find ourselves in a legal situation.
The second thing to note is that Jesus didn’t respond with violence. He didn’t return strike with strike. He did nothing to stop the blow and He did nothing to retaliate. All He did was question the validity of the action against Him. As Matthew Poole writes, “Our Savior could easily have revenged himself upon this officer; but, to teach us our duty, he only gently reproves him, and lets him know that he did not behave himself as one ought to do in the face of a court of justice.”
The third thing to keep in mind is that Matthew 5:39’s turning the other cheek is itself a demand for justice. Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr among many, many others took their cue for nonviolent resistance straight from the Sermon on the Mount. When you are going the extra mile with the soldier’s pack, you are causing him to break the law. A Roman soldier is only allowed to force someone to carry his pack a total of one mile. By going further, you are getting him in trouble. But what is he going to do, take it back through violence? Then again, he will be getting in trouble. There is no way out for him. When you give the man who took the shirt off your back your cloak as well, you are in effect stripping down before him. Now by jewish law he, because he saw your nakedness, is unclean. You have effectively interfered with his ability to come before God until he has gone through ceremonial purification. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, basically, they have backhanded you. That is how you would strike a slave or a social inferior. By offering the other cheek, you are basically saying, “I will not retaliate but neither will I allow you to regard me as inferior. If you must strike me, you will punch me as an equal not slap me like a slave.”
From this perspective, the way I read Christ’s question fits quite well. He addressed the guard person to person, questioned him rather than retaliating, and that question was in effect, “where is the justice in what you have done?” That policeman, and Jesus, and everyone else present all knew that the guard was wrong in striking Jesus. Jesus, in turn, made sure everyone knew that the injustice was not unnoticed and that He took exception to it.
God, let me be a voice of justice. Even in an illegal, kangaroo court that was a prelude to Your torture and death, You still spoke truth. Help me to live my life following the example You set. When I am wronged, help me not to retaliate, but help me neither to simply roll over and take it thereby devaluing myself, the perpetrator, and the God I serve. Help me to speak rightly and proclaim justice even when I am trapped in the most unjust of situations. In all things let me bring glory to You.

In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. (Isaiah 30:15)
It is always weakness to be fretting and worrying, questioning and mistrusting. What can we do if we wear ourselves to skin and bone? Can we gain anything by fearing and fuming? Do we not unfit ourselves for action and unhinge our minds for wise decision? We are sinking by our struggles when we might float by faith.
Oh, for grace to be quiet! Why run from house to house to repeat the weary story which makes us more and more heart-sick as we tell it? Why even stay at home to cry out in agony because of wretched forebodings which may never be fulfilled? It would be well to keep a quiet tongue, but it would be far better if we had a quiet heart. Oh, to be still and know that Jehovah is God!
Oh, for grace to be confident in God! The holy One of Israel must defend and deliver His own. He cannot run back from His solemn declarations. We may make sure that every word of His will stand though the mountains should depart. He deserves to be confided in; and if we would display confidence and consequent quietness, we might be as happy as the spirits before the throne.
Come, my soul, return unto thy rest, and lean thy head upon the bosom of the Lord Jesus.
